This annual crab hot pot festival at Ōmi-chō Market (近江町市場) opens during the start of Ishikawa Prefecture's snow crab (加能ガニ) and female red snow crab (香箱ガニ) season, offering a rare chance to taste the year's first catch.
Visitors are served crab soup (カニ汁), a signature specialty of Ōmi-chō. When visiting Kanazawa, be sure to enjoy the local delicious crabs. Access is excellent—just 5 minutes from Kanazawa Station.
